ECDV Announces 2012 Events
Its gonna be an exciting year to be at Emerald Coast Dirt & Vert! We recently announced four major events for 2012 that leverage the merger of the NBL and ABA into USA BMX and also utilize every aspect of the track, park and jumps.
Two USA BMX Quad Points Race Weekends are schedule for March and August. The merger of the NBL and the ABA has increased the number of active USA BMX tracks within driving distance to ECDV. This opens the door for bigger races - more often! We can't wait to offer two full weekends of BMX racing and an opportunity for USA BMX racers to increase their points while enjoying the most beautiful beaches in the world.
We will also be hosting to weekends full of extreme sports competition with the King of BMX and the Summer Slam. Both events will test the best and offer great entertainment for spectators. More detail information on each event is coming soon so check the Events page for more information and full schedules.
The Final NBL Grands - Labor Day Weekend 2011
The ECD&V team was in attendance for what will be the final NBL Grand National in Louisville, Kentucky. Going into the weekend team members were in contention for number 1 plates..... Here is the team's weekend recap.
"NBL Grands time! The team shows up for titles and our new addition, Mark Anderson is there for just a trophy at his 2nd ever national BMX weekend..... Here's the task before Madden. 40 points behind Jud Ciancio in 41 Expert, 6 points behind Dugan Neil in 45-49 Cruiser. The only way to beat Jud was to pull the same moto and beat him every lap..........which did not happen. We were on top and bottom of the list. He wins every lap as I did. Same scenario basically in the 1/4s and semis. So to pull it off, Madden has to be 4 spots ahead of Jud at the line to get the last ever NBL 41 expert title. A nudge into the chalk line would do it if he could make it happen. Jud's first straight was already the best of the weekend clearly, but Madden's track speed was ahead of everyone's including Jud. The main was gonna be a show! In 45-49 Cruiser, Madden pulls the #1- Neil and #3 Raymonde in the same moto and after three rounds and three decisive victories, Madden is 30 points ahead of #2 at this point. Semis go off without a hitch and the main is set for cruiser now with Madden in first, Raymonde in second and Neil in third in the points chase.
As if this wasn't enough in the 108 degree weekend of racing, Madden also smokes it in 30+ Open. Friday night, keeps vet Pro Rusty Dial honest in the motos, makes the main and clips out in the main! CRAP!! Spins his way back to 4th and some gas money for the trip home. Same thing in the motos for the Grands, chillin behind Dial and no probs in the qualifiers to make all three mains for the Grands and Friday nights show.....WHEW. Mains- 41 Expert title is within grasp for Fort Walton's BMX dude. Gate drops!....and he's a bit late! gets it going, but gets shoved high in turn one, no worries...he's about to kick it in gear and lay down the passes. Its just that the first guy he's gotta get around is Hector Mendez. The hardest guy to ride next to in 41 ex. A shoulder width of 5 feet and a windshield wiper style to hold you back which makes it nearly impossible to get by. All he can salvage is a 5th and the plate goes to Jud, who wins with a bit if a charge from Chris Meaker and Darin Houston, followed by Hausle.
Ok.....shake it off......... its done.....cruiser is still yours to take. Then the rains come................Great! Thinking that the gate was slippery, Madden charges the cadence like a grandmother stricken with arthritis. Trying to charge though the field, he clips a guy's bars and is down over the first jump! DONE. 8th place. He walks over and packs up the bikes and watches the 30+ Open main, battle in the wet track for chump change. (8th place was mailed to him!) Ahhhh, the Grands. Memories are made. Some good, some like this for Madden. BMX!
The team did well though. Making his 3rd ever 15 rookie main at the biggest race he's done yet, Mark Anderson wins 15 rookie and a 6ft tall trophy to go along with it! This has his dad hooked and plans of racing a cruiser are being set. Carson Honeycutt makes his main and snags 5th to bring home a #3 plate for the year! Connor makes his quarter and gets a 5th, but manages a few whips anyway, Liam and Mahkial miss the final cut but raced hard. Overall, here are the rankings for team ECDV Bill Madden- #3 in 41 Ex, #3 in 45-49 Cruiser Connor Madden- #22 in 13 Challenger Mahkial Jones- #18 in 11 Challenger Liam Jones- #30 in 7 Challenger Stay tuned for the next stops- Orlando and the ABA Grands!
